Super Bowl XLII Champions
February 3rd, 2008 ·

The New York Giants have won what is considered the biggest upset in sports history.
Eli Manning and company led the Giants to victory over the once unbeaten
New England Patriots. Tom Brady fell short of perfection, with the Giants winning
Super Bowl XLII and the Mannings going back to back. The final score was 17-14.
18-1 is still a very good year New England!!…
The Giants got out on top first, scoring a field goal off a very long and time
consuming drive. New England struck back and scored a touchdown after a pass interference call in the endzone. That score came just into the 2nd quarter. The
second half ended with the Patriots up 7-3. It was a very uneventful first half.
A couple turnovers, lots of pressure on Tom Brady, but outside of the first two
possessions, nothing really happened. Justin Tuck had a great first half, getting
two sacks and a forced fumble on Tom Brady. The second half started with Brady and the Patriots throwing screens and trying to establish more of a running game. Patriots got close to scoring after a gutsy challenge by the cheater, but ended up not converting on a 4th down. At the end of the third it was still 7-3 Patriots.
And then the 4th quarter started. Eli starts off with a 45 yard toss to Boss.
Five plays later he connects with David Tyree for a 5 yard touchdown with
11 minutes left to retake the lead 10-7. The patriots ended up punting on
the following possession. Back and forth it went with the Patriots making a
long drive that ended with a Randy Moss touchdown. The score came with
2:42 left and with the point after went ahead 14-10.
With a possession that dreams are made of, Eli went for it on 4th down and
converted. Then he escapes a sack and completes an amazing pass to Tyree
with a minute left at the Pats 24 yard line. After a Steve Smith first down
conversion, Eli lofted a floater to Plaxico to take the lead 17-10. Brady had 29
seconds left and on 2nd down got worked by Alford and sacked for a loss of ten.
Moss missed a huge bomb and on 4th down with 10 seconds left missed another
long bomb with one second left.
The Super Bowl XLII Most Valuable Player (MVP) was Eli Manning. MVP Eli went
83 yards in 12 plays on the final drive. Overall it was a pretty boring game till
the 4th quarter and even then it wasn’t that exciting until the last 3 minutes.
Defense was the key of this game and that’s why New York finished on top.
