Green Acres Sportsman's Club...
Nearly 30 years Ago, a small number of
Outdoorsmen wanted to create a place where avid hunters & beginners
alike could experience natural upland game & waterfowl hunting.
Since then, Green Acres Sportsman's Club has expanded to offer 820 acres
of prime upland cover and ponds for Pheasant, Partridge, Quail and
Ducks. They also offer fully Stock Ponds for Fishing!
In addition to quality hunting, Green Acres offers Dog Training.
Dan Ihrke, the Club Manager offers a well developed program designed to
produce a well rounded, versatile sporting dog fit for home & field.
Dan can train for basic hunting obedience or expand the training to
include intricate hunt test standards. His training focuses on
accentuating the natural abilities of each animal with special emphasis
on teaching both Dog and owner.
I met with Dan back in October of 2004 when I was researching dog
trainers. I was looking for a quality trainer that I could put my trust
into & that would really work hard to mold & shape my two English
Setters (Bella & Tomoka) into well rounded dogs for both the home and
the Field. After our first meeting, I was convinced that Dan was the
trainer I was looking for. I was very impressed by his knowledge and
even more impressed on how he took time to fully explain his program to
me. Dan not only answered any questions I had but then went ahead &
began asking me questions as far as what I was looking to achieve & what
type of commitments I would be willing to make to turn my dogs into
Quality hunting companions. That really impressed me! My dogs took
really well to Dan & that is all I really needed to see. Since then, I
have been working with Dan to get my dogs trained & it has been a very
enjoyable & wonderful time in my life.
Tomoka has just recently come back home from spending 2 months at Green
Acres. Let me tell you, before bringing Tomoka to Green Acres, Tomoka
was a very stubborn dog & did not listen at all. Throughout my visits to
Green Acres, I have seen Dan take Tomoka from a stubborn dog to a well
disciplined hunting Dog. Of course don't get me wrong, Tomoka is NOT
perfect but with continued daily training at home, I am sure that Tomoka
will become a great bird Dog. Tomoka & I will enjoy countless good
Hunting experience in the years to come.
